Re: LED fog and backup lights
I was going to run the LED front lights through a relay controlled by the ignition switch. Separate circuit from the ignition. I could go halogen, but since the generator is putting out only 25 amps I wanted a low draw. Halogen would be cheaper. I have one of the newer LED helmet mounted lights for ...

LED fog and backup lights
I have been looking around and have found a few high lumen LED 24v lights online. I am interested in LEDs due to the low current draw. I would like to add a circuit to run fog lights up front and backup lights on the rear. Has anyone here done something similar? are there any lights that should/coul...

Re: Another Fuel System Question!
The filter element is a simple stack of bronze or brass washers which are paper thin. The gas flows through this stack and sediment is captured. All you need to do is drain the cannister, and unscrew the bolt from the bottom of the filter. The filter body and element will drop free and then it will ...

Re: Engine rebuild shops?
The generator issue is a special concern simply because of the oil reservoir on the early models that furnishes lubrication for the front bearing. Most of the generators on M37 trucks are the early style. I can't tell you the last time I went into one of these units that had a drop of oil in the re...

Re: Fuel System Upgrade, I Hope!
SO, TO RUN AN ELECTRIC PUMP YOU NEED TO WIRE IT FROM A DIFFERENT SOURCE? (IE A SWITCH?) WHY NOT WIRE IT FROM THE IGNITION? TURN THE ENGINE PUMP WORKS RIGHT AWAY? RIGHT? :? I have a relay which is powered by the ignition switch. It controls my fuel pump. In addition to that, I have a switch which in...

Re: Fuel System Upgrade, I Hope!
I had that pump in 12v, which was causing problems. I replaced it with a 24v facet pump which is totally silent. The Carter pump was really loud, so I definitely knew if I had not turned it on.

Re: Tires
Studded tires are a bit of an unfair comparison. Many states up here do not allow them. If you studded your mud or NDCC's they would compete reasonably well with your 4runner's studded tires. Modern current production mud&snow tires are siped and do reasonably well on ice/hard packed snow and j...

Re: Correct generator gauge
So I took the truck to work today and drove home in the dark. The new gen gauge (colored bars) does not let any of the red dash light onto the gauge face. Is this correct. The Gen gauge is the only one that is unreadable in the dark.

Re: Tires
Siping will drastically improve the performance of any tire in wet and icy conditions. Search around online for the proper tire siping tool, and you won't regret it. The tool is much cheaper than a set of new tires. I second this. The original NDT's look like a terrible winter tire. Too hard of rub...

The only concern would be to make sure you obtain a meter that has ...
