A flathead is basically a lawnmower engine on steroids. The fact is that you are looking at a rev limit of around 3500 rpm due mainly to the long connecting rods. Porting and polishing, hi-perf cams etc aren't going to change any of that and may in fact decrease the life of the engine by overstraini...

Well the one that I am considering doesn't run but it's apparently complete even if it is pink. I'm going to be working away for awhile so it will have to wait until I get back.

Re: LOW COMPRESSION

My 230 has 50-70 psi compression in all cylinders; It set in a field for several years before we adopted it. Would like to run it until next winter before a rebuild. Any cheap ideas on how to make it run better til then? It could be a couple of things causing the low compression. You could try remo...

carb questions

My truck has a new carb on it along with an electric fuel pump. The problem I am having is that the old girl idles at around 1600 rpm and I can't figure out how to get that back down to something that I can live with. I am suspecting that this carb was something that just fit rather then being the c...

Sotven, I am curious about something. Every propane vehicle that I have ever owned always seemed to be rediculously hard on fuel compared to the same vehicles on gasoline. How are you finding it? My vehicles also seemed to lose a lot of torque after being converted too
