Re: Approximate age of Marine M-37 in Vietnam

Okay guys, I think we're missing the big picture here. The M37 in question "served" in Korea, that doesn't necessarily mean that it was during the war. There were plenty of troops and vehicles serving in S. Korea after the war and prior to Vietnam. Chances are the vehicle in question saw s...

Oil Pan Gasket - anything special I need to know?

Gentlemen, Looks like my Spring project for this year will be to replace the oil pan gasket. I've noticed that the majority of the oil drops are coming from around the pan area and not the front or rear mains for the most part. I'll be calling John at MWM sometime this week and ordering the gasket(s...

Re: Can't get timing right, can the oil pump gear be off by one

Nam Vet, He may be running a stock carb with the governor still set to 45mph. My truck has the governor set to 45mph and that's it - no faster, no matter how much I push on the petal. I have never messed with it, nor do I wish to. 45mph is just fine for these older engines and the gearing that these...

Re: My m-37 off reading in Moab

Cliff,

Is your truck stock, or have you changed and/or modified the suspension at all?

Yes, please shoot some video!! That does sound like a good time.

Re: Radios for a USAF truck

Refit1701, First and foremost I would ask what time period you are shooting for? The radio trucks in the 1960's had different radio sets than the ones of the 1950's. Also, all of the newest equipment made it's way to Vietnam and our troops stationed in Korea and Europe. Active duty troops stateside ...

Cruise night, Memorial day weekend

Gentlemen, We were having reasonably nice weather Saturday, May 29th so I took the truck to the local cruise spot. I didn't realize the truck was caught on video until later when my son's friend let us know. Whoever was recording must have liked my truck because he got me twice, my truck is shown at...

Re: Oil pressure concerns

I had a busy weekend and didn't have time to give an update. I pulled the fuel pump last Tuesday night and gas ran out everywhere, the pump was full of gasoline and diluted oil. Now the odd part, when I disassembled the pump the diaphragm didn't have any holes or tears. There was some slight surface...

Re: Oil pressure concerns

Gentlemen, Thank you for your input. I've looked over the engine for possible vacuum leaks, nothing found. The oil level hasn't changed but it does have a hint of gas smell but nothing overwhelming (??). I'll be pulling the fuel pump this evening and taking a look at the diaphragms as well as cleani...

Oil pressure concerns

Okay, a little warm up to the concern is necessary. About a month ago I did my annual oil change, nothing exciting, nothing unusual and all went well. I run my truck only on warm, sunny days throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall and because of that I use 15w-40 Rotella diesel oil. I have used that...

Re: Questions on operating Braden LU 4

I can tell you a good story about that freewheel position. About twenty years ago I was returning from a car show and kept hearing this clang, clang, clang noise coming from behind my truck. I pulled over and there was roughly 30-40 feet of cable spooled out dragging under & behind the truck. I ...

Re: What is the Big Heat Sink In Front of Radiator

What you have is a 100 amp alternator , not a generator. There would be no need for a rectifier if it was a generator because it would already be DC. Like DCook stated they are mounted in the M37 for field radio equipment and also in the M54 ambulances - if I remember correctly. So chances are your ...

Re: M37B1 passenger taillight & blackout light.

outpostm37,

Thanks, that is the front of what I'm looking for. Now if you could get a couple of shots from underneath showing the mounting hardware/bracket that would tell me how much I need to fabricate.

PoW,

I've been exploring that idea as well, I have an old "STOP" light I can use.

Re: M37B1 passenger taillight & blackout light.

Thanks for all of the great ideas. I like the gamma goat replacement lenses the best but I want to keep the stock look as much as possible. I have a spare stock brake light cover and the little fender mounted M151 blackout light so all I was planning to do was run an extra wire from the stock brake ...
