I'll pull the carb maybe this week, but a question first please. When buying a rebuild kit, which I see for sale in a few places, do I have to worry about the quality of the kit ie; was it made recently or can I go with NOS? The reason I ask is because I remember back to when our state started addi...

Oil pressure question

Please don't let this new guy wear you all out, I really need input. While the engine was "sort of running" I noticed the gauge showed only a few pounds of pressure. I haven't changed the oil or filter YET and was wondering if the 230 had inherit oiling problems. I guess I should hook up a...

Fuel, or Spark issue?

The M37B1 that I just bought has some problems. Yesterday was the first time I tried to start it (no clue how long it had been sitting, but did have a 2008 inspection sticker). It would start but only with the choke full on and it wouldn't take the throttle. Ran rough and never would idle without t...

Thanks Guy's, I had this problem with a 72 Volvo P1800ES with the wrong Vin number so I just started from scratch and used Broardway Title in Al. to get a new title with the right number and since the way it worked was I sold the car to them for $200 that is what I had to pay NYS Dmv in taxes. I cle...

M37B1 First problem

The M37 is now in my driveway and I started going over it. The first problem I came across is the registration year and Vin number. The NY window sticker and the pink slip shows a 1967 with a serial # (dmv #) of 8019192 Now I'm old and my eyes are shot from 40 years of welding but this is what I got...

Tomorrow I drive up to the north shore and pay the $3500. Hopefully later this week I'll have it flat bedded to the south shore. The reason I'm not driving it is I would rather get a feel for it close to home, especially since the owner as of 9-2008 never used it. Therefore the history is fussy and ...

Cal_Gary, after you get the new batteries do a simple test before they are fully hooked up. Put your cables on with the exception of the ground. get a 24v test light and with all switches off put it in series between the battery negative and the ground cable. If you have a civilian radio with memory...

Josh, 950 RPM at idle is good but it must take the throttle smoothly with a load right up to 3600 RPM with no dead spots.

An update

Today after I had my old body flogged by the 30mph wind and getting salt spray in the face at station 1,7 and 8 I left the skeet range and meet up with the owner. For now lets just say he knows his military vehicles, he has a garaged 1943 command car in perfect condition. He got the M37 started whil...

Welcome home, Wayne. I looked at and enjoyed your album. Thanks Much, uglyranger that means a lot to me. The album would be a lot better if I dig out my old photos and do some scanning. The other Indian I restored was a total basket case 1943 741 Indian Scout, and unlike a lot of military vehicles ...

I'll be the pessemist here and say that it looks pretty dang rusty. I see a new cab tub, fenders and probably bed floor in your future at the least. The tailgate looks good though! Josh, some rust is to be expected on this damp Island. No way around it even if you don't drive on salted roads. The o...

Knattrass Don't trust those old lines. I had to replace all the lines in my truck. They were full of rust. . The old ones may look good but the walls of the lines might be thinned/corroded due to rust and could burst during a hard stop and with a single resivoir M/C you will loose all of your brake...
