It runs, but oil pressure issue

The weather has been bad for this old cripple but I did up the distributor yesterday and installed it today. I only pulled one plug and checked the gap as I just wanted to hear it run after my carb rebuild and electric pump change. It fired right up and settled into a fairly decent idle without eve...

The M37B1 I bought had last run sometime in 2008 as it was inspected. The tank probably has 5 gals. water sitting under the fuel. Thats why I'm trying to get it started using fresh fuel out of my boats 6 gal tank. If you want to read my real feelings go to this link of a thread on E85, mine is the s...

Need photo

Today I pulled the distributor and figured I'll find TDC following the only book I have TM-9-8030. First I pulled the carb elbow and that also doesn't have a correct hook up for the cooling lines, which I'll address. I found two paint marks on the crank pulley, but couldn't see any stamped marks. N...

Sorry Guy's but I thought I posted what I found earlier in the day. A very weak spark while cranking and the plugs are black. So next week when it's a bit warmer I'll pull the "igniter". Thanks Charles in referencing the 4*BTDC, lucky for me I bought the full electrical test kit a few year...

Charles, I understand about the importance of the lines. That was what I learned while in the forum search mode reading what you and others mentioned. But being disabled I only want to go into the distributor once and need to find out about the cooling lines so I know that things are right.

Distributor questions?

I basically have only a few questions upfront before trying to get some fire back into the B1, I also have an observation I'll add at the end . 1. My only book (TM 9-8030) shows a picture of an early carb elbow, are the B1s different as to the distributor cooling lines? I'm asking since I got an ex...

It could be the carburetor but I doubt it. Even though it starts with no choke and no air cleaner which does point to excess fuel at cranking and the rough idle. The float level is correct and the reason I went for a new electric pump was that the one that was there was a Carter which I know was pu...

Back to the drawing board! wont run

When I first got the M37B1 I thought I had a fuel problem as it would idle rough and as soon as you touched the throttle it stalled. The gas tank was loaded with water, so I have rebuilt the carb and installed a lower pressure Facet pump. I tried it today using my boat 6 gal. tank with fresh fuel a...

A question on 4.89 gears

Is there a TM book just for the differentials? I have built a number of Ford 9" rears with no problems and was wondering how much different the 3rd member is in the M37.

Carburetor question

I received my kit from Snake River and my carb body is currently in the soup. It's been a real long time since I used a leather cup accelerator pump and IF I recall we used to pre soak them in light oil. Is my memory faulty like the carb is?

I should have explained it better. The leather cup end came right out of the bodies bore. The other end which is the vacuum piston end is stuck in the top cover. I may try 125 psi or a bit of heat from my heat gun?

Carburetor rebuild question?

Since I need to stay out of the way on this Turkey day I figured the shop was a good place to be. With the M37B1 I also got an extra original carb that I thought to take down and get a feel for the B&B. The one snag so far is that the accelerator pump piston is stuck in the upper cover bore. I'...

Where should I look for

the vehicle number? One poster mention on frame in front of the front axel. Exactly where do I look, or does someone have a photo of the area? Have a good Thanksgiving all.
