There is only one other car that gets second billing behind the Willys coupe, and to me that is a 53 Studebaker Lowey coupe. And to think you can use it all year with no road salt! Beautiful BTW Juan, I like your choice in a carb. When I built my 64 Ford big block I used an AVS Edelbrock and always ...

These are the real deal from when dodge and the others in detroit made their own. There are arb air lockers and powertrax units made for these. The only other gear you can go with is a 4.89. As far as hardned inner axles vintage powerwagons offers them. I may have asked the question wrong, but your...

newbe question, differentials

I haven't had the bucks yet to buy the other two TMs I need for my M37B1. But would like to know what are the differentials called? I think I read they were 9-5/8" and think I saw something mentioning Dana 60. Please what are these 3rd members called in non-military terms. Thanks Much

Charles, I do agree about the rebuilt box. I even figured out the Cardone # which think is 27-7526. But if I find it not to far away I can get the bracket, hoses and have the steering column if I chose. The two yards I deal with treat this crazy old cripple fantastic when it comes to pricing, of co...

I feel stupid, as it finally hit me. The GM truck is what we call a box truck. I guess I read Tom's info as a van's box as we also called a steering gear, steering boxes. I would think around the anthill I live on the GM gear is going to be easier to find. Thanks Guy's

What Tom posted on his site was great, if you could physically look at the makes and years to spot the fit. Around here very few yards keep anything old, therefore I need to know models they come out of. With that info I can look in my Hollander books, get an interchange # then call the yards that ...

Power Steering question?

I see that Tom of Snake River has the gear boxes and I know I'll be buying some of the parts for the conversion from him. Yet I like to be a yard hound and try to sniff out the box here. So what model Dodge or Chevy box should I be asking for by phone before I start driving around? Happy New Year t...

I'll weigh in on using grease. In the 80s I found a 62 P1800 Volvo in a barn. I love a challenge and this one hadn't run in over 15 years. After the fuel system, cooling system and brake work I got it running great. The steering box was leaking and I wanted to use it so I used Lubi-Plate (sp) lower ...

Additives

We all have our opinions and here is mine. John, me thinks you are spending way to much on Motor Doctors in a can. I don't use additives in my fuel, they are already in there for the EFI cars. I might use either Sta-Bil or Seaform if I was putting it away for a couple of months. Engine oil for my vi...

Don't know if this applies to the 230 but I use headless studs all the time on reassemblies of all manner of things so everything lines up.

David, I didn't run it up to fully warm. But after it ran for a short while I had my son watch the gauge while I brought the RPMs up a bit. He said the OP didn't increase. I won't pass judgment yet on maybe a oil pump problem till it gets some run time at full temp and an oil change.

Breathing easier now. I pulled the sender and added about a 1/2 quart of oil, installed my gauge and fired it up. I'm showing about 40 psi at an idle. Now I question did it need the prime? or is either the sender or gauge bad? Is there a Ohm's test for either? BTW, it started right up at about 15 d...

Gary what you are referring to shouldn't work on the Dodge as the oil pump is geared to the cam. I do what you are referring to, when I do a first start up on SBF or SBC V8s as the distributor has the driven gear and I'm looking to pre fill the oil galleys and get some oil in the hydraulic lifters.
