Re: Playing with your M37 during the winter months

Well..... Spent this morning plowing heavy wet snow....until i heard a clanking, at first thought I had thrown a chain off one of the wheels. Wish it was that, - broken yoke on the rear drive shaft at the rear axle.....ugh. Luckily I only got 3 to 4 inches of wet stuff, just south of me, got 18 to 2...

Re: Small fire

Did the same thing once on a shaft brake on a ship I used be Captain of up in Alaska. The ship was an old minesweeper converted to the passenger trade, had Cleveland Diesel engines - all stainless and bronze (no ferrous metal for mines). Anyways, for reasons i forget, the starboard engine was not wo...

Re: Brake power bleeder

Ok i got it. Took some time at lunch today with the MC plug, calipers and the Parker thead ID book. So my MC needs a 3/4-16 x 1/4" Conversion Adapter with SAE-ORB x FNPT The SAE ORB is straight thread with an O Ring, and the top side of fitting will fit my 1/4 male quick release for the power b...

Brake power bleeder

So attempting to hook up my brake bleeder to the top of the master cylinder plug - and am having no luck with the size or threads. I can power bleed the mc on the m37 plow truck with a 1/2 npt fitting. But that is a newer replacement MC. Seems to want a 7/16 pipe thread - is this a AN fitting kind o...

Re: Best Way to Restore Leaf Springs

Back in the day when I sailed around the oceans on a tall ship. Read that old school - no winches, showers, tv, phones, internet, and the once day loran fix etc etc. We would paint the our anchors with a mixture of black paint, jap dryer, tar, maybe some gear oil and whatever else we had on hand. Al...

Re: Snow...Again!

Got that right.... And now the poor truck is running terrible - keeps stalling out/ running erratic - and given the cold not really excited about checking the fuel filter / carb. Seems to run a bit better when i run the elec lift pump in addition to the mechanical pump. Come on spring, hurry up and ...

Re: BLOCK HEATER

I put one on the Katz inline coolant heater on my M37 plow truck years ago. I just put a T at the coolant block drain and then T'd off the top of the block where the heater plug is. I have ball valves from McMaster Carr on either side of the block so I can isolate it the heater hose springs a leak. ...

Morning in Maine

Yet another beautiful morning in Maine. Wishing I had a driver’s window and maybe some heat….. Starting to loose space for all the snow we have now….the snow banks are over 6 feet tall (I look up at them when I plow), 10 to 15 feet deep and about 200 linear feet long….going to be one muddy spring. h...

About to do the same fix on the trusty plow truck and curious which direction you went with regarding the front hoses.

Thanks

brake anchor bolt

Finally getting around to redoing the brakes on my trusty old plow truck – has only taken two years to get to too… so long in fact that I can’t seem to find all the parts that I bought two years ago. Been hard to justify during the cold depths of winter – want to stop just drop the blade…. Truck is ...
