:D Hi Norm, welcome to the gang! Wish my wife was as understanding as yours. If so, I would still have two trucks instead of one. A lot of good, helpful info on this site.

I got an email from Rod Shaver today and he is out of M37 data plates and won't be making any more soon. He did have some nice etched brass ones.

Tom, enjoyed the pics. Good looking trucks and beautiful country. Been awhile since I was in Idaho. From the video, looks like an active rescue unit.

The serial number should be stamped into the frame on the driver's side, just ahead of the front wheel, visible from the outside. I have never seen or heard of an 'engraved' serial # on the data plates. Don't think the military ever did it that way.

It seems that most M37 tanks (and Generator Trailer tanks) have only one drain opening and it is located at the rear of the installed tank for easy acess. Like Charles said, you are lucky to have the larger, extra drain opening.

What size number 8 socket does it take for the plugs? I would like to install a heater later on, and would like to accumulate the proper tools and equipment.

 You had better buy several reams of paper and have an extra ink cartridge if you plan on printing the whole thing!
