Gary, I have not been to the 'Aberdeen event'. I take it this is held at the proving grounds up in MD? I've been up there just to mill around and get up close and personal with some German armor. You can see all the pictures you want but until you stand in front of a Panther or King Tiger tank you j...

Well, I won't say all of the spring talk has been for nothing as I am sure I have learned a bit and others who read will learn as well but the truck with the sagging issue is not going to work out. I drove 3.5 hours (one way) to pay her a visit. While the truck was down on the passenger side about 1...

Thanks Gary, that is some very wise advice. Not only would I not want to do anything unsafe for me or my family but I would not want to take the chance of having an accident where someone else gets hurt. This would not only be bad from a legal standpoint but would be a bad mark in the public view of...

Keep asking! That's how you learn. You asked for it... I know I should wait until I see the truck tomorrow but as far as the whole truck leaning thing and the springs go I have two more questions. If the truck is visibly leaning to one side would it be most likely a spring is broken as I wou...

If the springs aren't broken, they can be re-arched and retempered by a decent spring shop, but new ones would be the best way to go. Oops, sorry Lifer, I see where you mentioned a spring shop a few posts ago. Has anyone done this with their springs and had good results? Like I say, I don't mind $1...

This will show my raging newbieness but the truck has both springs and shocks correct? If shocks were completely shot, it would not sag would it? It would probalby have a very bouncy ride or something I would imagine. How hard is it to change the springs out? Are there special tools involved or majo...

I am getting ready to look at a guy's truck this weekend and from what I remember seeing in a picture (can't find at this time) it looked like the left bumper (as it is a winch model) was angled down a bit and also the left fender looked like it was sagging down as well. He said on the phone tonight...

Thanks for the great description there Lifer. It seems the more I get answered, the more I want to ask :? . I can understand the concept of the solid lifters from your description but does that mean that they are inherently 'ticky' under normal conditions even if they are adjusted properly or does t...

I have recently heard mention of 'solid lifters' in the light of some ticking being normal for them. Can someone explain what 'solid lifters' are and why ticking would be normal for them? Are they not stock to the standard M37 motor as the consensus seems to be these motors should not tick. I am not...
