Re: 8 point socket?
Why an eight point socket though? won't a 6 point allow a square headed plug? Just curious? How hard are 8 point sockets to come by? All I have in my toolbox are 6 and 12 point sockets. 8 point sockets work on square heads only, 6 point will not work on a square head. Any good tool supplier should ...

Theaory on HF Tools
My original rule was never buy anything with moving parts from Harbor Freight. I have had to expand that rule...after buying some pry bars that bent and some emory cloth tthat wore out almost immediately my no buy list is growing. I do buy some wrenches and stuff that I put in my tractor tool boxes ...

Check for "Slave Cable" on ebay. That is what military called jumper cables....
Be careful as there are two types. The original has two holes and uses two pins like the picture. Later we changed over to a NATO standard which has one big pin (it is a concentric operation)

ZDDP replacement
Some places are already selling ZDDP to add to your oil. (Eastwood.com for one) but the price is ridiculous. I think it is $9 a bottle which is enough for to do one 5 qt oil change... That is more than the oil!!!. I have the M37 an M274, 2 old Case tractors and 6 older Wheel Horse Garden Tractors......

Some thoughts
Nick : Sounds like you are doing things right..don't understand why it doesn't work. I have a very old timing light and i usually bring one of my garden tractors over to use as a power source. (I assume your battery is OK) Have you tried hooking the light to #2 cylinder...just to see if it flashes a...

Got to para 93 of your manual it has tests for your distributor and coil. I do not know what test values should be for the coil. Problem with coils is they will work/test ok cold but heat them up and they conk out. If yours tests OK but you have problem with her dying while warmed up or not wanting ...

Pulley Marking
The timing marks are stamped (some what lightly on mine) on the edge. If you have found TDC I would use some paint remover to uncover the marks...too much sanding might obliterate them.

Timing lights
I think there are a couple of different style timing lights. Some have to be in the circuit to work (current has to pass through their pick up on it way to plug mine has a coil spring one end goes in the wire and one on the plug) others are inductive...they have to clamp around a section of unshield...

151 heater
I like the 151 heater i put in my M37. It is mounted on the bottom of the glove box. If I had it to do over I might reinforce the mounting a bit. Charles didn't like the leg room...I haven't had any passenger complaints but this isn't a long distance driver. As to access under the dash there isn't m...
