Re: New to me '52 M37
Pertronix units don't like copper plug wires Confused... This is a MIL distributor. I was told if you have the military waterproof distributor, metallic core (copper) cables are preferred. If your distributor has been replaced with a civilian type distributor, a non metallic core cable must be used...

Re: New to me '52 M37
Next question:
There are AC Delco R45 plugs in it now. The previous owner used regular wires from the .mil distributor.
The points have been changed to the Pertronix module. Any suggested change in plugs or gap?

Maybe next year I'll get the beast started and get there. It's only 1.5hrs by car, 3hrs by M37.

Raining here but the want to drive around the lake is tempting. A 1.5hr drive would be great at 80deg.

Got the signals figured out. The mil flasher and controller were toast.. swapped them out for a Signal Stat 900 and a 3 pin LED compatible flasher. Previous owner had two wires active when the brake switch is closed which screwed up the stop lamps. Wired and labled! Took off the old mechanical fuel ...

Re: Filament to LED Light Bulbs??
The Stop/Turn bulbs can be changed with a LED 1156 rated at 12-24v. Since the Mil housings don't have reflected interiors be sure to get the ones with LEDs on the end. 20240410_075521.jpg Output is a little brighter than the dual filament bulb. At least there's some draw reduced on the minimal 25a g...

Filament to LED Light Bulbs??
Anyone change out the filament bulbs to 24v LEDs? I'm looking for the Stop/Turn and Marker (tail) lights.
From what I can research the Stop/Turn are #1156 and are commonly replaceable with equivalent LEDs.
The markers, #1251, not so easy...

Re: Oil Bath Air Cleaner Gasket
Next is to figure out something for under the wing nut. For the metal to metal wing nut contact area I was able to reduce the internal flare with pliers. That flare prevented the removal of the wing nut. A large rubber washer covered by a metal washer now sits between the wing nut and the cleaner, ...

The only electric units I'm familiar with is rack&pinion. If there is another type that might fit I'm sure it's not 24v.RedUtilityTruck wrote: ↑Tue Mar 19, 2024 6:47 pm I've wondered if electric power steering is an option...

The internals of the signal control were trashed. Have a new Signal-Stat 900 on order. Should be here on Sunday.

Re: Power steering kit
To install PS on mine was way low on the list. Then after driving, it was pushed to the top. A very good upgrade if the budget is there. To answer your question: Each 'kit' will get you 90% there. I purchased mine from M-Series and was told there will be some custom work as not every truck is the sa...
