Good Afternoon Everyone,
I was reading a day or so ago that the 4-wheel drive can be disconnected to offer a little better gas mileage. If that's true, do I simply remove the front drive shaft or will it require more than that?
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: Fiona is a hit!
Thanks Gary,
I had such a great time watching the people look and ask questions, let alone several vets who stopped to re-live some old memories. That is exactly what I hoped would happen once I got her completed.
Stay safe!

Fiona is a hit!
Hello All, Well, I entered Fiona in a car show yesterday to share her with as many people as possible. I had several people stop and thank me for coming because they had never seen a truck like her in their entire life. A gentleman stopped to tell me he "almost lived" in an M-37 for about ...

Re: Leaking differential seals
Good Afternoon gentlemen,
After close examination, I have found that the gear oil is definitely leaking past the yoke splines. Any recommendations as to how I might fix this?
Thanks,
Dennis

Re: Leaking differential seals
I didn't even consider the yoke splines... thanks for that. I'll clean everything up and double check before proceeding.

Re: Leaking differential seals
Thanks gentlemen, as always I appreciate the wisdom... So, considering that Fiona sat for almost twenty years, I guess I should replace the seals! Duh!! They weren't leaking prior to the servicing, but that could be because the fluid was a gel... LOL!! Thanks for the photos for the new seals I need ...

Leaking differential seals
Hello All, I serviced both differentials this past week and filled them both with a Synthetic 75w90 gear oil, which I believe I had read on this site that is what I should use. However, since servicing the differentials, both the seals where the u-joint shaft enters are now leaking. Did I choose the...

Re: Cab waterproof cover
Hello NamVet, When I bought Fiona, the previous owner had removed the straps and installed two metal bows to keep the top tight and prevent water pooling. I think they are genius and am happy to share them with you all all who may be facing the same problem. The first phot is an overview while the s...

Re: Generator belt being eaten....
Thanks for all the responses, you guys are like Google, you know everything! I finally resolved myself to crawling under Fiona and removing the metal splash panel directly under the generator and was able to get a good box-end wrench on both bolts. Tightened them and the adjustment bolt on the topsi...

Re: Generator belt - UPDATE
OK gentlemen... I found the fan belt was narrower than a N.O.S. one I ordered from Vintage so that is the most likely problem to the wearing away of the belt. It was riding in the bottom of the generator pully. Now, for a second question... The generator won't stay tight, which adds to the problem, ...

Re: Generator belt being eaten....
Thanks guys for your help... It appears that I may have a couple of issues. First, the three pulleys all seem to line up just fine, so I don't think alignment is an issue. The water pump pulley definitely has a small dent in it and the shaft has a very, very small amount of wobble to it. Those I wil...

Generator belt being eaten....
Good Morning All, The two or three times I have taken Fiona out for a drive, I could smell rubber burning. After this morning's drive I looked her over good and found that the generator belt (new) is being eaten, leaving a heavy coating of rubber "dust" over the entire area below the pulle...

Squealing bearing
Hello Everyone, Well, took Fiona for about a 15-20 minute drive this morning and find that I have a bearing squealing at higher RPMs, about the time to shift. It sounds almost like a throwout bearing, but it is doing is in neutral and when driving, and with the clutch in or out so I don't believe it...

Re: M-37 Tire Pressure
Thanks for the input and the great story... I feel somewhat like an idiot after reading Nam Vet's reply because I then remembered that the tire pressure is plastered on the side of the truck just above the rear tire in many cases... Duh!!
Enjoy your week, I think my problem is fixed...
