Re: MVCC Camp Plymouth, Anyone going?
Gary, Only a couple of photos. I was busy wrangling Henry most of the time. We did get a ride in a WWII Half Track which was super cool and convoyed to Sanders Aeronautics to check out some Hawker Sea Fury air racers along with a bunch of other neat aircraft. Talk about cubic $$$! Henry and I both h...

I don't know if it will bother the housing, but I did manage to melt the cover for the turn signal indicator!

Re: Amp or Volt gauge for a '52
just me,
Is your gauge stable? Mine gauge acts like it has no damping at all. I'm wondering if it's the regulator cycling like mad or the gauge is just wonky. I actually show higher voltage at idle than when revved up which is odd.

Re: Amp or Volt gauge for a '52
This post got me thinking that I should do something about my ammeter that does little more than wiggle. I picked up a working voltmeter from a friend and removed/insulated wires 8 & 9 from the ammeter. I had a 5 wire spider so I plugged 27 into the rear of the voltmeter and it's up and going, B...

Re: MVCC Camp Plymouth, Anyone going?
Hi All, Counted 4 M37's at the meet. 3 were basically stock and one had a small block Mopar w/ FI, 5 spd., disk brakes and hidden A/C! Before you're tempted to grumble about the modified M37, if you didn't open the hood or look pretty darn closely you would never know. Some friends of mine have had ...

Michael,
Beware, there is no end to the rabbit hole.
Are you venturing south for MVCC meet in April?

Re: Delta Camshaft's 400M Camshaft
Fearsome words "Daddy, I want to help!". Surpassed by "Daddy, watch this!" Gary, Hopefully we'll get this thing together some time early next year. I've gathered most of the parts and most of the machining is done. We need and we need to do the valves/seats, it's just time!!! Hop...

Delta Camshaft's 400M Camshaft
Hi Crew, As we slowly progress on the world's longest engine rebuild I need to send some lifters to Delta for refurbishing. I have a camshaft with a damaged lobe (chipped) that they can repair and regrind to their 400M spec based on the Chrysler marine camshaft. If I'm going to ship some stuff their...

Re: Budd Wheels Newbie Questions
I believe I purchased the proper tire irons for the job from McMaster-Carr. We do the wheels on a Hunter TC3700 tire machine and use plenty of tire paste. From my experience the bead captures the locking ring well before you even apply any air pressure, but we still keep the wheel locked to the mach...

Re: Newbie with a few questions
The oil pan gasket can be done in place. Due to the way the pick up works it's a good idea to clean out the pan on an engine with an unknown history. They collect goodies in the bottom of the sump due to the floating pickup. Best gaskets sells good rear seals.

Re: Newbie with a few questions
Dave at DC Truck parts has seals that work well. Don't forget to pick up some speedi-sleeves for the flanges, they are likely worn.

Re: Newbie with a few questions
Northof53,
Hubs are pretty easy, just make sure the mounting surfaces are flat and clean and I'd suggest some loctite on the threads along with proper torque. I like to put some anaerobic sealant on the gasket too.

Re: Newbie with a few questions
Northof53,
I'd check out the condition of the harness before getting too deep into any electrical diagnosis. If it hasn't been replaced it's likely falling apart and you don't want to light up your new toy in a BIG way! Fortunately anything you need to sort it is readily available.

Re: Clutch Replacement
slk, One thing I found useful is to fab up a cradle to fit to your jack that stabilizes the transmission. I just used some scrap wood and a ratchet strap. It makes it easier (and safer!) to deal with that big lump of iron. Make sure the hardware for the intermediate shaft are in good shape and when...
