Re: Still working out the bugs...
"I explained that we've got to drive all the bugs out in order to make it a reliable vehicle since it hasn't been on the road in so many years. That's also why we only use secondary roads-slower speeds and room to pull over. " That is a classic ^^^^^^! I had to read it to Hilde, who has pa...

Re: Tracta Joints, how loose is too loose?
I was shocked to find I'll have to buy nearly 5# of Mobil 1 grease! I think that's more than I've used in the last decade!
We're going to pull the carrier out too, the old grease has migrated into the housing past the old LOOSE bushings and wanked out seals.

Re: Tracta Joints, how loose is too loose?
May have found the answer to my question. It appears that in the early manual the max clearance was listed as .007", in the 1973 version it was listed as .015". I like the .015" .

Re: What is the correct gross weight GVWR/GVM ?
Ola,
Yep, it's Fagerstrand in Nesodden. Sounds like your pretty close, we probably pass by you on the way to and from the airport. Small world! I'm new to the site too and just picked up an M37 recently so I'm on a bit of a learning curve. How's the M37 in the "slaps" lately?

Ola,
Where are you in Norway? I spend a bit of time with family in Fagerstrand every year.

Re: Introduction, Just jumped in!
Thanks for the tips. I spent a sizable part of the evening reading past posts on knuckle rebuilds. Thanks for telling me where to find the Dodge Service Manual, it was referenced a few times and it looks like I'll need to pick up a copy. I did have some questions on the axle bushings. I'm curious ab...

Re: Introduction, Just jumped in!
Our truck seems to be degenerating into a pile of parts... We've got brake bits all over the shop in various states of clean, cruddy, and busted. Steering knuckles are coming apart, floor's out, seats???, wheels, tires, tubes... large piles of vintage dried mud... The M37 is taking over the Shop! It...

Tracta Joints, how loose is too loose?
Hi All,
Looking for some real world feedback here. The max. clearance spec is .007". I was wondering how critical this really is. The one we cracked open today was .003"-.004" over and had a nice polish to the surfaces, but no galling or signs of damage. Thanks.

Will,
I don't believe he had one, but I'll keep my eyes open. I checked the manuals on the site you sent, the one I saw is not there. I should have written down the #, DUH!

Re: Introduction, Just jumped in!
Went shopping and picked up some parts this weekend :). In addition I had a good time speaking with a former M37 owner. He had quite a few stories to tell and many fond memories of his truck. The parts I picked up were mostly from the late '60's or early '70's and were in the original packaging. On ...

I'm looking for the spring clip that goes in the upper right hand corner of the windshield. I've made the rod.

Marley, huh? We've been calling it the "Green Monster". I'm kind of bummed one of my students described it as "cute" as in "It's soooooo CUTE!". This has caused me to lose sleep at night... Gary, Cool truck! I like the fire engine red. I chose the truck we picked up bec...
