Re: Front Bumper
I would have fixed it regardless of the frame extensions. Boy, they look really weird with no bumper!

Re: Getting connected to this site
This is something that the site owners need to do. There is an issue with the database on the server. It will not heal itself or get better with time.

Re: Ckutch job needed on M37
I have a set of 50 year wood alignment tools. The green one fits. LOL
Because the bellhousing is on the truck, you could just stab the transmission back in and then tighten the clutch cover bolts.

Re: Ckutch job needed on M37
It's an odd procedure on these trucks. You have to pull the transmission. But the bellhousing stays in place. Remove floor Remove intermediate drive shaft Remove transfer case levers If equipped, remove winch drive shaft Remove transmission Remove lower bellhousing cover Remove pressure plate and di...

Re: Troop Seats
Having ALL of the manuals (including parts, accessories, maintenance and operators) for the truck really helps. Just go through the pictures and drawings. You'll find how it all goes together. Don't just go to the section where you expect the information, peruse the entire thing. (Make notes where y...

Re: Electric steering motor
My compact car (FIAT) fuses the electric steering box at 70 amps.
I would go as high as I can afford on the converter just to keep from stressing it. In this application efficiency isn't a factor, so going oversized doesn't matter.

Re: Electric steering motor
Tapping power off one battery in a dual battery setup is very bad practice. It will greatly reduce battery life. There are white papers on it online. There are 4 general options for military truck multi voltage systems. 1: Convert the truck and/or accessories to all be one voltage 2: Use a buck conv...

Re: Steering knuckle lube
Copper is not a ferrous metal. Water (or oil) quench does not harden it. It does make it useable instantly and help reduce scale formation.

Anneal the copper washer.
Use torch to heat it cherry red and drop it in water.
Now it will conform to any imperfections in the sealing surface.

Re: 1953 DODGE M37
Forming a hard tube line is easy and straightforward. You don't have to make it in the same form as the original. (Pretty tough with common benders) You can come out of the master and form a full spiral to get to the frame fitting.

Re: Brake Fluid DOT 3 or DOT 5
Dot 3 is cheap and perfectly suited to drum brakes. It entrains water and needs to be flushed every few years. It is also an excellent paint remover. Dot 5 is expensive and overkill for drum brakes. Although it does not absorb water, it entrains air. This can make bleeding difficult and the pedal fe...
