Re: How about a picture of YOUR M37 OR M43!!

Looks like a nice, straight truck.

That is a find!

Re: Alignment

From 1/8 to 1/4 inch in. One tie rod end is fine thread the other coarse, if memory holds.

A spring loaded curtain rod positioned at the farthest rubber on each tire will give you a cheap gauge. Use a sharpie to mark it, then roll the truck backward to see the difference.

Re: Hard top oval window. Any interest?

If you decide to use it, beware the part of the back side (both L&R sides) project into the M37 door window rear area. This can put a real nasty laceration into your back upon entering. If it hasn't been modified to cut it back and reapply the seal support I highly recommend doing so, I still ha...

Re: Need help installing new rubber headlight bushings

DOT-3 and rubber are good friends, helping get things in tight places.

Re: My 1962 Project 😵‍💫

If it were me, I'd use your close-off plate and connect a small hydraulic hand pump & oil. The Porta-Power pump comes to mind, and it will develop enough pressure to turn the crank without a doubt. Compressed air can give quite a explosion if something goes loose, whereas using a liquid doesn't ...

Re: Original Tires?

Yep, those show up now & then, usually from M101 trailers and such.

I'd be suspect about them, due to their age and coming apart driving at speed.

Re: How to get spark plugs wires black again

In the days of the G741's in service, most I saw had long lost the rubber covering on the plug wires.

Matter of fact, I've seen NOS ones without the rubber.

Re: Engine cranks...No start

Don't forget the gas cap has a switch in it: (closed/fording) and open.

If it isn't open, using gas will pull a vacuum on the tank after a bit.

Re: My 1962 Project 😵‍💫

Indeed. When I rebuilt my first M37 back in '73, a new tailgate was $50...

NOS doors, fenders, hoods, all were easily available.

Re: My 1962 Project 😵‍💫

If you open the hood up all the way, never forget to secure it with the metal rod on the windshield frame.

That hood packs quite a wallop falling down...

Re: Distributor Timing Curve

Every G741 variant I've ever seen in stock configuration has the same ignition system with the waterproof distributor and sealed vent line system.. For those that don't understand the Gov't system of classifying vehicles of the same basic type: G741: M37 M43 M56 V41 M42 G742: M35 M44 M34 M49 everyth...

Pretty small increase, actually.

No vacuum advance mechanism in the G741 truck.

I wonder what all the ex-mil heavy trucks contractors use will do about this...
