Re: 1st snow 2018 w/ pictures...

Gary; You did not get any snow this past week end??? or did it all go North?? We got 11 inches on the Valley floor---12 to 13 on the Mountains. We are at 104 inches packed on the Mountain with a total of 164 inches so far this year. It is still not as good as last year, we need more snow to get thru...

Re: Join us for a burger in Yakima.

Jim-

Great trip, wish I had loaded up and come over. Keep us posted on the next trip date. I would like to plan on attending but need to plan ahead with the calendar.

Re: Join us for a burger in Yakima.

Jim--Gary--Rickf Just like a Boat on a trailer, I haul my M to a trail head or event. I just do not want to spend a week driving the M to Anacortes, WA. Some one posted photos of my Truck back in Fairfield, Iowa during the VPW gathering in June. My 1962 was leading the pack during a trail ride along...

Re: Join us for a burger in Yakima.

Jim:

I can not do this in the winter months----your Snoqualmie Pass might be to snowy for me. How about in the spring or summer months. If we can get Gary to find a trailer or tow-bar maybe we both come out for Lunch.

Re: Engine Rebuild Decision

Good Choice to use Charles for the engine rebuild. He does have a good list of improvements for the Truck. Looking forward to reading about your project.

Re: Replacement shock absorbers?

Go to the parts store and look at Monroe-magnum #74025 or Gabriel #85302 or 85302. These shocks are fleet line Heavy Truck Shocks that look, act and have a good comparison to the NOS issue. I ended up using the Monroe 74025 on both front and rear.

Looks nice! The motor pools I work in, the order was to paint them. You do not need to be an easy target.

Re: can't find the steering box adjustment

NAM VET

Take a look at TM 9-8031-2, page 277 fig. 167. The adjusting screw is under a cap bolt on the engine side of the Steering Gear box. Check the Lub level in the box also, use Mobilgear 600 XP 460.

Re: Source for pan head bolts

Jerry; Check your TM9-8031, starting on page 417 you will find where the pan heads are installed in the Body of the Box and panels. With some more research you will find that these pan-heads are used thought out the body of the truck. I bought 80 of these screw from John at Mid-west after talking wi...

Re: New Guy with an old truck

Jess;

You are lucky to have received the final Truck Documents, now you know some of its History. I found some documents for my truck stuffed between the seat springs of the drivers seat. You have a very good Truck.

Re: transmission stuck in gear

I agree with Bert, you should further inspect the transmission. We used to flush the transmission with Diesel fuel then drain and refill with new GO-90 Lub but we knew the History and Maintenance of the Truck.

Re: timing chain

If the chain was still on the engine you turn the crankshaft clockwise so that the top span of the chain is tight. If the amount of slack in the lower span is greater than three-quarters of an inch, replace the timing chain. See TM 9-1840A Ordnance Maintenance manual. Hope this helps
