Re: Seat belts added...

In all fairness to the trucks, their time period and the design criteria, these trucks were quite "modern" when designed and built (they are contemporaries of the U-2 aircraft - not a phenomenally safe plane) . The military as a rule (even today) gives absolutely zero consideration to pass...

Re: Seat belts added...

Thanks, guys! I've been thinking about doing this for awhile, but wasn't sure of where to anchor them. Sheet metal didn't seem like a good choice.

Thanks again! :D

Re: Seat belts added...

The picture is nice, Gary, but could you please show how you anchored / attached them? The details of the installation is the crux of the seat belt issue.

Thanks! :D

Re: Dual Wheels on the M-37

I haven't gotten that far yet, Charles. My understanding is that you need 2 dual wheels per side (some people think just one will work with a standard wheel). Because this is NOT a standard military configuration, it may take a little additional work. Maybe a wheel spacer, maybe taller, narrower tir...

I think MWM makes a new tailgate, too. You might give John Bizal a call.

Re: Fording kit pictures

Those "quick release" brackets are very nice, creinemann! I've been looking for one to buy (or borrow to make copies) for years. I pester John Bizal at MWM about them every time I call with no success, so far.

If you see one for sale somewhere, please let me know. :D

Re: idler/intermediate arm replacement & endplay reduction

Well, that is why I was always told to leave it a little loose for "bump steer". Another compromise between on road and off.

Re: idler/intermediate arm replacement & endplay reduction

Andy, I'm not a automotive engineer (I play with large commercial aircraft), but I've always been told not to tighten up the steering too much because if you do, when you are off road bouncing around and you catch a pothole just right you risk getting a nasty twist to you arms and wrists when that s...

Re: winter grill cover

The grille cover (winterfront) is usually only installed when the temperature is consistently below freezing. One reason for this is that the winterfront will rot and the hardware will rust if there is moisture in the air. The winterfront is also really only useful when the temperature gets down bel...

Re: Exhaust Tailpipe Tip

Generally this short extension is used to keep the exhaust (with its associated acids) from rotting out the underside of the truck. The exhaust also contains water vapor, so the area under the tool box on the right side can have corrosion issues if the exhaust is not directed clear of the vehicle. T...
