what is "high" Resistance on temp sending unit?

My temp gauge started staying on max last year and now with everything coolant related apart, I'm troubleshooting. The MVPA electrical manual (long out of print) says that the sender should read high resistance when cold and drop as the engine heats up. Mine reads 4.2K ohms, which doesn't sound that...

Re: Closing in on getting the truck back together.

Good luck with that, John. My PCV plumbing is hanging from my garage shelf-procured it a few years back. Bubba clamped off the inlet on the manifold before I got the truck. I plan to repair and install it when I do my intake and exhaust manifold gaskets-hopefully this Fall. Gary Mine was in a box u...

maybe looking closely at my ohm set up might help. hal
Mine looks exactly like that. LOL It's the pipe from the rear of the block to the front section that is stubborn.

Closing in on getting the truck back together.

Six months ago, I sidelined the 37 for manifold gasket issues. The gasket between the intake and exhaust had blown out and I was suspecting an intake leak. So anyway, all that is fixed along with valve adjustment. Now I am facing the most horrifying task: getting the PCV equipment to assemble. My tr...

Build sheet?

I sent off for my truck's build card way back in January. Has anyone received theirs since then? I realize they had a backlog to clear but I am worried they lost my request.

Conical locknuts on the exhaust...

I'm putting the manifolds back on the truck and have, of course, lost one of the funny conical nuts for the exhaust bolts. Aside from MWM, is there somewhere that sells just one?

Between lack of good coils, discontinued spark plugs, and tires more expensive than civilian truck tires, the future is closing in on our hobby.

When mine did that, it was the governor. Once I adjusted that, it stopped misbehaving.

Re: carburation issue...

If she's running rich I'd check the float level.

If the idle mixture screw isn't working, she may be idling too fast. These trucks idle at about 500 rpm and it always sounds slow but the mixture screws effectiveness fades out at 20 mph or so and the high speed circuit takes over.

Re: Radios for a USAF truck

Minor update: My GRR-5 powers up and makes static but I am still looking for the antenna for it. It's here somewhere. The PRC-10/mobile power supply also powers up and works but I have not tried transmitting yet. I also have a RT-48 that works but I have not been able to find anything to receive. I ...

Re: TDC detection (beaten to death topic)

I did my best to mate the two manifolds together. I clamped the exhaust to my workbench, then placed the intake there and installed the bolts loosely. I checked the flanges with a straight edge and they were very close so I clamped the block flanges to another heavy piece of steel. After that, I tig...

Oh, I am doing his cold engine method. I knew that there was a method of doing half of them at a time based on what was at TDC.
