Re: replacement axles on ebay??

What have 4140 (or any other alloy) Foote axles sold for before? I know the stock axles can be had for much less, but these new axles are supposedly much more durable.

Re: BOW CORNERS...ON E-BAY...NOT MINE

These bows look to have the smaller, rectangular holes for the 1/4" oval necked carriage bolts used on the trailers. The M37 bows should have the larger, square holes for 5/16" square neck carriage bolts, if I remember correctly.

Re: interesting Ebay finds

Charles at Mseriesrebuild said he was having modern alloy replacement axles made up and I will wait for him. I have much more faith in Charles' integrity and knowledge than someone unknown to me. Especially for $500! Just my two cents worth. 52 M-42 I think Charles was referring to someone he knew ...

Thanks, Paul, but I was looking for these bolts in regular carbon steel, instead of stainless.

Re: How Common Is This??

Although Chrysler was a major customer of Autolite, they did not own the company, which was an independent supplier of OEM parts, primarily to Chrysler, Ford, and Willys/Jeep. In the early 1960s, Chrysler did purchase some of Autolite's product lines, and Ford purchased others, along with the "...

BOLT, Eye, Safety Strap - CC-990968

Been trying to find the two eye bolts (OEM or a commercial substitute) that attach the ends of the troop seat board backs to the vertical supports, and provide anchor points for the cargo safety strap, but with no luck. The mfr. part no. is CC-990968 according to the photo (Fig. 216) on page 412 of ...

Re: Loose Wood Bows for Cargo Canvas Support?

Thanks for the replies, guys. On a related note, I've stumbled across a third variation of the corner bows, the first being the regular M37 bows with the bolt holes on the sides, and the second being the M101 trailer bow with the bolt holes on the face that makes contact with the canvas. ORD 9 SNL G...

Loose Wood Bows for Cargo Canvas Support?

As my M37 did not have the canvas cargo cover (paulin) or any of the support structure when I purchased it, I've been accumulating the parts needed for it. I cut the wood pieces using the dimensions from the garbee website (http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/bedwood.htm), but when I assembled everything ...

Re: Who are the Democratic gun-grabbers in the US Senate? Le

Why limit the list to just Democrats? The attribution of this quote is debatable, but the sentiment is accurate: "When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear a...

Re: Gas tank replacement

gastankrenu does a great job, and they can fix it. The process is expensive and then there is shipping of an oversized item. You may not like the cost, but you will have a superb tank that is your original. It also comes back with a lifetime warranty. When I had my M37 tank done at the closest Gas ...

Re: a date which will live in infamy

Never forget. I wonder if they still teach kids about Pearl Harbor in school? Or do they skip straight to Global Warming ? No doubt some instructors use the date to talk about the environmental effects of the attack, and how (a very small amount of) oil continues to leak from the USS Arizona . :rol...

[A pry type puller works best on t/case seals if replacing while on the truck, we have one that is adjustable for various angles of attack which makes it useful in many different applications, it's available at CarQuest at a reasonable price, has a pin lock system to change the head angle. Re: Draft Pads Brake and Clutch

If you have a copy of the June 2011 issue of Power Wagon Advertiser, see Charles Talbert's photo on page 13. It's a good photo of the installed brake draft pad from the engine compartment side.
